A big buck jack rabbit leaped into Lyle Galland’s Chevrolet coupe on a Tuesday night near Craig, causing $15 to $20 damage. Galland, driving toward Hawarden, struck the rabbit midair, breaking the windshield and rear glass, with the animal dying on impact. Galland and locals noted minor cuts from shattered glass, and he kept the rabbit as evidence.
Special Correspondent reports a frigid winter forecast as farmlands in Watertown South Dakota faced patchy rainfall. cattle herds remain strong, corn and hay benefited from late rain, and muskrat houses hint at a hard winter. local births, social events, and travel notes fill community updates.

Vincent Schroeder of Ovens plans to enter Ames State College for civil engineering after a visit with the Brucher family. Worthington visitors Mrs H Frink Mrs Lena Beers and Miss Leona Diederich stayed with the Harnack family and returned home Sunday with Mrs Ernest Cutler. Remote relatives from Glendale Bel Plaine Cedar Rapids and Minden visited Remsen this week with the Alfred Moeller and Wm Heitmann families. Max Lehmann of Minden came to see his ill sister Mrs Joe Delperdang, whose condition improved. Henry Altmann Jr and family move from Owatonna to Remsen for health reasons with Altmann seeking treatments in Sioux City.
