Special Correspondent reports flood damage near Ovens with multiple local residents noted. Nellie Cronin and Dan Cronin family spent Sunday south of town. Peter Pletschette and Roy Kelly families among others visiting or affected. Flood area draws thousands. hog vaccination mentioned amid regional activity and fair attendance.
Miss Mathilde Ludwig spent the weekend at her Remsen area home. Miss Frances Baker aided with housework at Mr and Mrs Leo Thomes home near Remsen. Eid Hentges was in Emar gs on business Tuesday. A new silo was built on John Early home south of town last week. Mrs Herman Bell of St Louis and Clarence Homan of Alton visited Melis home Wednesday. The sacrament of confirmation was given by Bishop Heelan of Sioux City at St Catherine's church Tuesday morning for over 30 boys with Mrs J P Rolling and Henry Wittkop as godmother and godfather. Fr Brune of Alton Fr Foerster of Merrill Fr Marx of Kingsley Fr Gehlen of Sacred Heart LeMars Fr Greteman of Struble and Fr Klein of LeMars assisted. Alvira Olinger's 12th birthday was celebrated Sunday with 33 young guests, games and a luncheon.
Special Correspondent reports Charles Kohler and Nick Hoffman in Sioux City on business and for the fair. Local residents including Mr and Mrs Philip Raveling of Minnesota visit Remsen. Two births recorded on Sept 8, a girl born to Mr and Mrs Leo Thomas and a girl born to Mr and Mrs Mike Goebel. Visitors include Mrs Warren D Creglow of Chicago and R E Courson of Belmond. Several residents travel to Sioux City or Pipestone for business, and Leonard Recknagle departs for Idaho to manage farm interests.
Mrs. Dewey Hammer of Sioux City visited friends here last week. William tech spent time at his Lakefield Minnesota farm. Julia Curtis visited her Hull area home over the weekend. Mrs. Fred Tech called on friends in Sioux City Friday. Frank tech and W P Justman returned Saturday from Minnesota after a week there. Fred Schwelsow of Preston also noted.
Mr and Mrs Ed Cowan of Zwingle visit Will Cowan and family. Mr and Mrs John Brennan and family called in LeMars. Miss Henrietta Fischer spent Wednesday with Alvina Dunn. Raymond Cowan helped Pete Gain or with hay. Frank Dunn is recovering well after surgery last Monday. Mrs Joe Staebell visiting parents in Madison Minnesota for weeks. Miss Bessie Carel stayed with Mr and Mrs W T Carel last week. Mr Francis Keenan of Struble was a business caller nearby. Mr and Mrs John Herzberg visited friends near Merrill for several days. Mr and Mrs Leo Carrel and family were Sunday evening visitors at Carel home.
N W Washington and Mrs Henry Oltmann visited Lincoln Nebraska. Herman Harms cuts corn for John Borchers. Ben Hilks and Tillie Seibens shopped in Sioux City. Mrs Joe Simons of Brunsville visited Geo Bauerly. Many locals went to Vermillion South Dakota for watermelons. Gert Pecks shopped in Sioux City. Jack Bilke helped Geo Miller with a silo. Lutheran mission festival at Brunsville drew many. Many locals attended the Sioux City fair. Lewis Harwig received a carload of baled straw at Brunsville.
Miss Minnie Rieken has been visiting the Jack Buhman home at Sioux City for a few days while an illness has kept others confined at home. The situation has prompted concern and careful house care as local residents monitor symptoms.
Mike Crowley was a business caller in LeMars Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Chas Schunk of Leeds were Friday evening callers on Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hughes. A 7% pound baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Lieb Monday, Sept. 13. Mrs. Lieb is Marguerite Begg. Ed Cowan and Zwingle visiters spent Sunday with their nephew Lloyd Cowan of LeMars. Matt Crowley and Joseph Brennan were business callers in LeMars Tuesday. A J. Litzmann was seen on the streets. Alvina Dunn visited her father in Sacred Heart hospital. Walter Jeck was a caller Monday morning. Mrs. Rice of LeMars visiting at the Will Cowan home. Therman Rhoades were Sunday evening callers on John Dunn. Elmer Fischer spent Wednesday evening in LeMars. A number from the vicinity went to Merrill and Dalton to see storm damage. Ralph Stephenson was a business caller on Roy Bullington Tuesday. Mrs. E. J. Dunn and son Will were LeMars shoppers Tuesday. Jim Connor was a caller on Tim Bergan Tuesday evening. Will Cowan and sons and Cowan relatives motored to Cedar Falls to see Frank Secor. they will train from there to Zwingle. Geo Middaugh was a business caller in LeMars Tuesday. Mrs. Frank Dunn visiting sister Mrs. M. E. Hughes and helping care for husband.
Preston Township residents Visited Ben Toel and Brunsville for errands and shopping. Miss Minnie Borchers stayed in Brunsville helping Mrs. Sam Deldiker while Emma and Minnie Borchers shopped in Le Mars. Hog transport by Bi Fischer for Fred Plueger and Fred Haage's Le Mars shopping noted. Fred Miller hauled hogs for John Ludwigs to Sioux City. Last week residents like Herman Kruse cut corn. Gert Miller delivered pig meal from Sioux City.

Mrs. Mattie Parks died at M. H. hospital Sioux City after an operation at 60. She leaves a mother, husband, 2 sons, 2 daughters, an adopted daughter, siblings, grandchildren. Chas iRTSyns entered the M. D. hospital in Sioux City on Wednesday for appendicitis. He is reported to be doing fine at this time.
Mr. and Mrs. Oltmann and two sons of Idaho Falls Idaho arrived last for a family gathering.
Miss Undine Donahue of LeMars came up Friday to spend the weekend with Miss Alice Mandelkow. Floyd McCammond and Harry Langene were Sioux City visitors.
