Say They Stole His Property

M Varella Greek candy store owner on Sixth street seeks the law to recover about 60 dollars cash and 100 dollars worth of goods taken by his wife and Leo Hathaway who fled to Omaha last Saturday night. The watch, valued at 22 dollars, was recovered from Evans jewelers where Hathaway had left it for repairs. If evidence suffices, County Attorney Strubis will issue a warrant for Hathaway’s arrest on a criminal charge.

Special, George Carr former postmaster at Ireton was indicted by the grand jury in Orange City Iowa Sept 19 on forgery. Carr had been convicted at the last term but the verdict was set aside for a defective indictment, and the case was sent back to the grand jury for a new indictment.

Young Man in LeMars Attacked by Delirium Tremens

Frank Griffith about thirty, from LeMars, suffered delirium tremens at work north of the city on Monday and was taken to City hospital. On Thursday he broke a window with a chain while believing pursuers were after him, escaped outside, ran around the block, then returned to the hospital. G W Phillips cared for him. chains were removed and he slept after close watching.

Death of Mrs Wm Hall in Missouri

Mrs Wm Hall died at her Missouri home on Monday September 18 age about 30. Her body was brought to Union township cemetery via LeMars for burial. Ada Hawkins former daughter of John Hawkins once Ply mouth county supervisor and Henry township resident. She leaves husband four children her father one brother and many relatives. Her mother died last winter in Missouri and was brought here for burial. Funeral at Union township Presbyterian church Thursday conducted by Rev W A Richards Mt Hope M B Church. Deceased was a piece of Mrs Wm Mc Cartney and Greg Croston.

Sixth annual Plymouth county Sunday school convention held in Hinton

The sixth annual Plymouth county Sunday school association convention met in Hinton on September 16 and 17. It drew many state workers and enthusiastic Sunday school workers as residents warmly hosted visitors. Officers elected for the coming year include President H W Richards Merrill and Vice President J H Thoren LeMars, with multiple secretaries and an executive committee named to replace I S Struble and fierce Beciitle of LeMars. The next convention was set for LeMars.

Sheriff Arendt returned home with Frank Messex after a requisition on the Governor of South Dakota. Messex’s relatives fought the warrant, but the county attorney aided Arendt, securing habeas corpus quashed and Messex turned over to the Iowa sheriff. Messex may face jail for alleged jail breaking and disruption to authorities.

Washington reports a weekly crop conditions summary noting excessive rainfall and winds in the lower Missouri valley damaging corn especially in Missouri and Kansas.
