Nine New Monsignors Invested at Sioux City

Nine priests were elevated to monsignor at Sioux City in a mass led by Rev. Newman Flanagan with deacon Rev. L N Klein and sub deacon Rev. J L Lavelle. Archbishop Beckman preached on world affairs and the ceremony was partially broadcast by a local radio station. A banquet followed with Rev. Geo Wessling as toastmaster and a cross of ice as centerpiece. An American flag adorned the table. About 150 priests and altar boys attended.

Church Women Form New Group

Church Women form a new group with officers including Mrs. Frank Stamp secretary of supplies and Mrs. W. E. Hunter secretary of student work. Mrs. Henry Heidbrink leads children's work, Mrs. G. A. Hanson heads the Fellowship committee, and Miss Rosa chairs the Status of Women committee. An attractive luncheon followed, with Mrs. Hanson as luncheon chair. The first general society meeting will be held at the church.

Church Notice for September 24 Meeting and Society Installations

On Tuesday September 24 a short ladies aid meeting will convene at 2 30 PM with Mrs Lester Dorr presiding to finish this year’s work. Mrs Kluckhohn will lead the new society meeting. Officers installation will be followed by a program on Our Heritage by Mrs Walter Nussbaum. Charter membership offered to those joining before October 15. Circle meetings will be monthly and study groups for Missions Bible Study Stewardship and Christian World Citizenship will be organized as desired.

P. T. A. Welcomes LeMars Teachers at 1940-41 Reception

Some 200 LeMars residents gathered at the junior high auditorium for a P T A annual reception honoring the public school teaching staff. C D Roseberry delivered a cordial welcome, Supt. Harvey N Kluckhohn spoke for the teachers, officers were installed, and a luncheon followed with games and stunts showcasing community talent.

Mission Week At St Marys Maurice And Struble

The week of September 22 to 29 is mission week at St Marys church Maurice and St Josephs church Struble. Rev Fr Ernst of the Fathers of the Most Precious Blood Indiana leads the mission. The first three days from 10 am Sunday to Tuesday evening will be held at St Marys church.

Mission at St Josephs Church Struble Weeklong

Rev Joseph Wolf announces a church mission at St Josephs Struble from Wednesday morning to Sunday evening with daily 7 am morning services and 7 45 pm evenings. The service ends Sunday with 13 hours of adoration as renovation work continues on the church during the two communities two parishes Maurice and Struble extend invitation to all faiths to attend from Sept 22 to 29.

Anniversary Service At St John’s Lutheran Church

St John’s Lutheran marks the tenth anniversary of the American Lutheran church with a Sunday service at 10 o’clock. The program includes a children’s program and a divine worship service. Bank offering boxes to be returned. Catechism class Saturday at 9:00 and choir rehearsal at 11:00. Pastor L Belk emphasizes relying on divine protection if God is with us.
