The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors ordered the 62 year old wild cottonwood tree torn down to bring a road to grade. The tree stood in the middle of the road between the C P Kloster and Wm Lang farms northwest of Remsen and had been a local landmark cherished by the Lang family for generations. Despite protests, workmen felled the tree Monday morning ending a 62 year chapter of local pride and natural beauty.
Society items report Mrs C O Field and Mr C O Wield hosting and visiting in Sac City and Sioux City. Klatter Kard Klub guests, Merry Go Round club tea, Baptist Aid meeting changes, and visits by Miss Kathryn Mourning and the Hiltz family are noted along with weekend guests from Detroit.
Visitors came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Patrick including Mrs. Hiltz and Mrs. Duster and their families. Wesleyan Guild elected officers Dr. Alice Paulsen president and others. CD chapter P BE O opens today with a buffet supper hosted by Mrs. Koentz. Regular social and church society events are described along with bridge gatherings and a pilot coupon drop by Sioux retailers. Vincent Hoffman visits his parents in Sioux Falls.
The American Trust and Savings Bank as Executor files probate papers dated September 3 1932 with Roseberry and Roseberry attorneys listed for the estate. Publication appears in LeMars Globe Post on September 5 12 and 19 1932.
Sheriff Rippey and numerous residents are listed as business visitors in Kingsley Sioux City and surrounding towns. Birth announced for Clarence W Spaan couple a daughter. Several residents visited Omaha Chicago La. Tech and Cherokee for family, school, or medical reasons.

Mr and Mrs Jack Constantine and daughter visit Allen family then move to Detroit. Relatives travel to Albion Nebraska for uncle W Morehead’s funeral. Dorothy Cross heads to Morningside College Sioux City for senior year and practice teaching at East High. Mrs Ralph Stinton of Los Angeles visits relatives. father Henry W Bristow recently died. Baptist Bible school class elects officers and plans fall activities after a cafeteria supper. Irene Bly becomes president. Shirley Jean returns from Wayne Nebraska. Hoschler Post American Legion to elect officers Sept 29 due to district convention. Local youth depart to colleges: Verle Allen Naomi Thorson to University of Town City. Dorothy Cross Alberta Johnson to Morningside. Donald Cross to College of Medicine Louisville. Frances Stecker to State Normal Wayne. Mildred Samuelson to Iowa. Fayette Kerr to South Dakota Vermillion. Karl Elbert Youngstrom and Elbert to Kansas University. Bob Shouberg to Grinnell. Clarence Steinert to Luther College. A lightning storm knocks cement cap from chimney at F J Swanson residence.
The estate of Charles Weiland deceased in Plymouth County Iowa invites Lydia M Weiland and all heirs to note that a document purporting to be the last will was filed March 4 1931 in the District Court. The final proof and hearing are set for October 7 1932 to determine probate and admit the will.
On September 8 1932 the District Court of Plymouth County IOWA appointed Marguerite E Willcutt executrix of the estate of R P Willcutt deceased. Debts must be paid to the executrix and all claims filed with the court for allowance. Published in LeMars Globe-Post.
Notice states on September 3 1932 the undersigned appointed executor of the estate of J Butler deceased in ty Iowa. All persons owing debts will pay to the executor and those with claims must present them legally authenticated for settlement.
Damage was limited as lightning did not enter the house and several radio sets were temporarily put out of commission. The incident involved sharp electrical discharges at close range with no other reported harm or loss, totaling $7 in value.
Special to Correspondent notes Lyle Warley as a Sioux City visitor. Laura Alayden of LeMars stayed in Laughton Wednesday. Albert Hawke and Will Panay of Beresford, D. visited B. F. Siebens toward week’s end.
Mr and Mrs Henry Harter of Granville spend Wednesday evening in a Miller home. Numerous visits and Sunday dinners mark a busy week as relatives and friends travel among LeMars Sioux City Akron and nearby towns. Attended Earl Crowley funeral and numerous shoppers and callers visit the various homes including Kallsens Borchers Miller and Deegan families with multiple dinners and picnics noted.
Mrs. Wm Nicholson and Mrs. Chester McDougall traveled with Mr and Mrs Lorenz Bertram of Ireton to Sioux City for a social outing joining local hosts for a day of visits and greetings with the community members and neighbors.
Misses Daisy and Rose Long assist their mother with canning and housecleaning as they spend the week at home in Stanton township. Several locals attended a six o'clock dinner at the Lloyd Cobbert home. A group including Kenneth Heeren, Chester Long, Harry Weise and Rose Long traveled to LeMars for a Sunday show. Henry and Mrs. Prust of LeMars were married recently at Elk Point and will reside in LeMars. St Joseph's parish prepares for the annual chicken supper in early October, with church members planning for a Sunday school convention. Funeral services were held in LeMars for W H Deegan, with condolences extended to relatives. Pupil Doris Deegan attended the funeral, while Chas Baack hosted threshers and Mrs. Albers hosted events.
