Water town Reporter notes Rev George K Platt Episcopal rector at LeMars has accepted a call to St Mark's Church in Waterloo. Vestry vote was unanimous after a sermon, with Platt planning to begin October first and move with wife and two children. He is praised as a strong pulpit orator and well regarded socially.

Sidetrack project progress for Gehlen travel pit

Pulling in Sidetrack leaders J J Gehlen and agent L J Walker returned Tuesday from Minneapolis after conferring with officials on building a sidetrack to the Gehlen travel pit. Engineers were ordered to return with them and surveying began early Wednesday with construction to push forward, about two weeks if weather holds. The sidetrack will aid Gehlen in handling gravel and sand contracts with Stots City, boosting the company’s local business.

Couple sue over Akron collision claim damages

Mr and Mrs Kleibauer, injured in a collision alleged to be caused by the reckless driving of Leander Shedd and Henry Calligan, file damage suit in district court for 500 dollars. Attorneys Zink and Roseberry represent the plaintiffs while McDuffie and Keenan defend for the defendants.

Death of Michael Dwyer at 48 in Potosia

Michael Dwyer of Potosia died at Cherokee hospital on September 1 at age 48. The remains were sent to Sioux City and brought here for burial on Tuesday with a funeral at St James church. He left a wife and two children, four brothers, and three sisters named Thomas Patrick and Lawrence Dwyer, Mrs H Johnston, Mrs Mary Honeywell, and Miss Josie Dwyer of Sioux City, and Dennis Dwyer of Seattle.

Pierce-Backer Wedding at Piercey Home in Sioux Falls

A pretty wedding was held at the Piercey home on South Main when Viola Piercey united in marriage with Lo Backer of Sioux Falls. The ceremony occurred at noon with about forty friends present. The couple will reside in Sioux Falls after a three course luncheon and a reception of gifts.
