Watershed Membership Meet Held At Floyd Valley

Floyd Valley Watershed Association held a membership meeting in Orange City with about 100 attendees led by President George Eason. Congressman Charles Hoeven spoke on flood control bills and projected authorization for the Floyd Valley Project, while Colonel T S Hayes outlined Pick-Sloan plans and soil conservation as flood control. Membership prizes and social hour followed with prizes awarded for memberships and attendance.

4-H Show Brings Young Farmers to Sioux City Event

Over September 10 to 12 area 4-H club members exhibited calves pigs lambs and other projects at the Sioux City Baby Beef and Barrow Show and sale. Winners from Nebraska South Dakota and Minnesota competed for championship honors and substantial sale proceeds while Central Public Market staff praised a year of hard work and looked toward tomorrow's leaders.

Inland vacationer injured diving in Minnesota lake

Marion Shane of Iowa Falls was hospitalized after diving into shallow water in Minnesota injuring neck and shoulders. A Grundy Center group narrowly escaped drowning at Clear Lake when a fishing barge capsized. life jackets kept them afloat until rescued.
