Westfield Shocked by Tragic Self-Inflicted Shooting
A man from the Westfield area, Roger Lias, died after an apparent accidental shooting while reaching for a shotgun in a car near the Bert Peck farm east of town. Elmer Petty and Harry Lias discovered the body. funeral services were held at the Congregational church with Masonic burial rites at Riverside Cemetery. The community extends sympathy to Mrs. Lias and relatives as residents reflect on the tragedy.

Western Stanton residents attended the mission feast at St Johns Lutheran Church on Sunday with church ladies serving between five and six hundred dinners. Ladies aid met Wednesday with Mrs Frank Perry and elected officers. A group visited the Lawrence Lehrman home last Tuesday to play music for the DeRaads’ marriage.
