John W. Plueger, injured years ago in an Alton town job accident, was persuaded to sign away worker compensation under rugged individualism. He argues the New Deal on state and national basis would protect him, but his experiences suggest the state will not insure proper care.
A Globe Post report quotes Mr. Plueger reflecting on socialized medicine. He initially favored government payment through state control but rejected the idea after learning patients would lose freedom to choose doctors and face bureaucratic limits. He regrets signing away his rights after an Alton injury and would seek his own treatment today.
Horse show results list multiple classes with winners and riders. Sunset Stables and other Sioux City stables featureOpen palomino class led by Texas Gold with Getz Buick Co. etc. Senior and junior gaited classes highlight Indian Chief Merrill Arnold and Sweetpeavine. Events of the week include a reception Monday night at the Student Union hosted by the faculty where President and Mrs. D. O. Kime and other administrative staff will officially welcome students. Wednesday sees a reception hosted by the Y.M. segment for student gatherings.
Mr and Mrs Bourg hosted a Rettodlist gathering at their home, inviting neighbors and friends to share refreshments and conversation in a casual social event.
