The Grant township note recalls the birth of Henry Millard, the first white child born on the 160 acre homestead in Section 10. The article then documents a long list of visitors, family reunions, weddings, showers, and community events at the area’s households, with names including Orpha Noble, Mrs. Millard, and many local residents.
A Monday social at Stanton Evangelical church honored Mrs. Katy Fischer and her family as they moved to LeMars. Members shared games and stunts, with teV Bauer presenting a motto from the church. Refreshments were served and the community sent best wishes for the Fischer’s new home. School board members were mentioned later in the report.
Fredonia residents visited the Nis Kloster home near Carnes while Thorvald Kloster attended the LeMars old age pension board meeting. Allen Juundgren called at the Chris Kloster home. Charles Carwell and son Bobby visited north of LeMars. Marian Juhl stayed with Doris Miller and Mrs. Ross Vincent’s daughter from Sioux City. Arnold Patternson’s daughter Jeannine from Gaza visited Albert Lundgren. Nis Kloster helped haul barley to the Ovens Co op Elevator and Thorvald Kloster filled his silo. Elmer Nielsen plowed for Chris Kloster. Chris Kloster and Tina Miller were Sioux City callers. Peter Mulder and Niels Kloster were Orange City visitors. several women helped cook for silo fillers. Horses in the area are suffering sleeping sickness.
Johnson Preston and relatives return from Arizona to Brunsville. Visitors include Gert Leibens and George Miller, while Regina Johnson’s upcoming wedding is noted. Shoppers, birthday “reminders,” and social visits span Brunsville, Akron, Merrill, LeMars, and Lincoln. A free dance in Brunsville and out-of-town guests from Pine City and Chicago accompany the weekend gatherings.
With her parents Mr and Mrs Louie Bruns of Bruneaville and Mr and Mrs Charlie Flachmann and children of Craig traveling to Nebraska for a few days to visit relatives and friends.
Otto Knop died last Wednesday at the Zimmerman Home in LeMars after years as a Seney resident. The community mourns his passing as acquaintances recall his local calls two weeks before his death. Funeral attendance included Moritz Kunath and Lyle, Charles Kunath, A. D. Jeffers, J. H. Walkup, and Floyd Becker among others from LeMars and area.

Perry Center residents report travels from Chicago for a football game and return home. Teachers and directors met at the Perry Center school with ice cream and cake. Numerous visits and social events fill a busy local week with travel, teaching assignments, and farm livestock losses from sleeping sickness.
A miscellaneous afternoon shower honoring Miss Regina Johnsen was held at the Will Johnson home. Attendees included many relatives and friends with extended family groups listed, reflecting a warm community gathering.
Mrs Jack Dirks Mr and Mrs Dick Frerichs and daughters and Alvin Klemme attended a mock wedding and a luncheon after the ceremony. An arch of pink and blue flowers centered the table for the bride to be Miss Marie Janssen, with gifts and family visitors from Tower City, North Dakota arriving to join the celebration.
Donald Page suffered a painful injury when a cement silo stave fell on his foot at the Page Silo plant. He was taken to Sioux City for an X ray that showed a dislocated arch and he wears a cast while using crutches. The item also lists numerous local visitors and residents in and around Alvord Iowa and nearby towns.
Miss Harriet Schnepf of Remsen substitutes in district No. 2 Grant township for Miss Mildred Winter who is recuperating from an operation in Rochester Minnesota. She expects to resume teaching in about a month.
An unsigned note from Sam Schessler expresses appreciation for Bible Thoughts and the church paper The Register, which he has enjoyed reading for a year. He dedicates the Bible Thoughts in this issue and asks who was the greatest mother ever lived.
Struble Mrs Alfred Albers and Mrs W W Stinger and daughter Donna returned Thursday from a month with relatives in Klamath Falls Oregon. The marriage of Miss Lorraine Frank of near here and Arnold Steichen of Alton was solemnized at St Josephs church Wednesday morning with Father Wolf reading the nuptial mass. Friends here extend congratulations.
