Fire Fiend destroys Le Mars Kluckhohn block 1880
A Le Mars fire in 1880 leveled the Kluckhohn block housing dry goods boots and shoes, King Bros grocery, House of Lords and the old opera house. The blaze caused extensive losses with insured and uninsured totals, sparking charitable collections for affected families. The Kluckhohn stock neared 25000 with 13000 insurance. King Bros faced about 7000 loss.
