Mrs. Anna Kohler of Remsen announces she will continue operation of the Kohler jewelry store, a 50 year old business, and bids for a share of public patronage per the Remsen Bell Enterprise.
Mrs. Kohler operates a convenient business place featuring a modern rear Kohler apartment shared with Mrs. Kathryn Anderson. The store will carry a full jewelry line including diamonds, plus dinnerware and gift items for all occasions. A selected holiday gift line will also be offered.
Douma Karssen nuptials held at Bethel Reformed Church Sheldon with Rev. H G Teusink officiating. The altar featured yellow and green gladioli as Miss Maxine Vander Waa sang before the ceremony and Robert DeBoer performed The Lord's Prayer after. Candlelighters were Mrs Howard Van Roekel and Miss Katherine Roghair in matching formals.
The bride wore white satin with fingertip veil and carried white gladioli. Her bridesmaid wore yellow and lavender gladioli. Best man was Edward Karlsen. ushers included Kenneth Douma and Howard Van Roekel. A church parlor reception followed. The couple plans a Minnesota honeymoon and to live in Alton after Sept. 1. The groom works at Alton Tusty Bakery. the bride, Sioux Center high school graduate, once worked in Sheldon.
The couple united in marriage on August 29 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The bride is the daughter of Neal and Mrs Van Roekel of Sioux Center and the groom is the son of Edward and Mrs Van Gorp of Orange City. They live on a new North Washington Street home in Sioux Center. The bride teaches rural school northeast of Sioux Center. Post nuptial shower and family gatherings were held in Sioux Center and at the Van Gorp home.
Miss Bonnie Milton daughter of James and Mrs Milton of Kingsley wed Bernard Junek son of Mr and Mrs in a ceremony reported locally.
Fred Junck of Kingsley and Mary Lou Junck were married at 7 30 p m at First Presbyterian Church Union Two with Rev. Douglas Ostrund officiating. The Knights of Columbus regional conference convened in Storm Lake on Sunday September 11 with attendees from Le Mars including Mr and others referenced in the fragment.
A gathering described as a banquet followed a meeting where Mrs Timmins Pete VanderMeer and Mr and Mrs Jack Kennedy were entertained by the Ladies. James Kennedy and Jo attended as part of the afternoon event at Cobblesigg.
Lorraine Utesch aged 19 remains in polio treatment at a Sioux City hospital. She is noted as the 1949 queen at Central High and is under care in the hospital’s polio department.
