S/Sgt Russell L Grubb of Kingsley received a division citation for meritorious conduct in Italy while with the Fifth Army at 345 Red Bull division. His father John B Grubb lives on route 1 Kingsley.

Northwest District Chiropractors Meeting At Sheldon

Dr W Roseboom helped organize a large gathering of chiropractors in the northwest district of Iowa at Sheldon on Sunday. The attendance was large and prominent locals visited Akron and nearby areas over the weekend including Mr and Mrs H H Wetzeler and their children from Alta. Charles Wetzeler returned from Great Lakes naval training and is on leave. Vincent C Wilberding, former sergeant, arrived home after four years and seven months in the army with discharge from Fort Leavenworth. The Donhartog estate of James B Donhartog of Orange City valued at about 12000 passes to his wife Jeannet Denhartog, including real estate worth 5700 and 1/5 interest in Denhartog Bros garage, household goods, and 3600 life insurance.

Long troop trains have been operating, sometimes several in a day, over the Milwaukee road through western Plymouth county, carrying soldiers in the air service to and from the Sioux Falls base, which is now functioning as a deployment center.

Navy man granted 80 day leave after Pacific duty

Frederic K. Veale, carpenter's mate second class USNR of Le Mars, received an 80 day leave after his 68th naval construction battalion detachment returned to Treasure Island California from extensive Pacific duty. The 63rd served on Guadalcanal Emirau Manus Manila New Zealand and the Admiralties. on Guadalcanal it faced a 12 hour attack before camp could be established.
