Bird Houses of Concrete Please Birds at Bailey Farm
Tiarold Bailey built several cement covered bird houses on a wood frame, cooled by fine wire netting and decorated with pebbles, colored glass and shells for a decorative effect. The Bailey yard hosts a growing colony with wrens favored though other birds could use the design. Painting the exterior of Christ Lutheran church underway
Grant work began Wednesday to paint the church white along Lewey Driscoll. An infant son of Mr and Mrs Dick Jansson named Kenneth was christened Sunday with sponsors Mrs Earnest Meyer George Noble and Oscar Beitelspacher. Deloris Anna Beitelspacher also baptized Sunday with sponsors Mrs Carl Wessels Florence Renken and George Renken. Ladies' Aid met at the school house Wednesday with many members and visitors. Mrs Fred Onken hosted. The meeting decided to continue efforts locally.

The aid plans a bazaar on the evening of September 27 with lunch served. Grandma Croon donated a handmade quilt to the aid and it will be awarded at the bazaar. Mrs. John Oetken will entertain the aid in October. Mrs. Hilbert Hennigs joined as a new member at the August meeting hosted by Mrs. Oltmanns. Rev. Fisher of the Old Folks home in Springfield acknowledged a $15 contribution from the aid with thanks.
