Death makes sorrow for Garfield township family

Obituary notices report the death of Ben Osborne of Garfield township after a three month illness. Survived by wife, two daughters, mother, three brothers, two sisters, and an elderly grandmother. funeral in Pierson Methodist church. Rev and Mrs A Schempp and daughters Lillian and Eunice hosted a Tuesday evening supper at the Rev J D Meyer diane in Grant township. Visitors Mr and Mrs August Herzberg of Johnson township stopped by Kred Ohtrichs home Wednesday. Charles Flachman and sons moved from the Geore Zimmerman house to a farm in Johnson township. Young folks from here attended Clara and Elnora Heeren birthday party in Grant on Wednesday. John Harms and daughters Marie and Joyce with Mr and Mrs Henry Dirks of Akron left Friday for Woodward Oklahoma to visit Dr and Mrs W R Hunter. Fred Livermore and son Orville and Mrs Raw Johnson returned home last week after a two week vacation with relatives in various parts of Its Nis. St Peters ladies aid met at the home of Mrs H H Harrs south of town on Thursday afternoon. Louis Borders of Preston township and wife were visitors here Friday morning. Elmer Frerichs returned home Monday morning after visitations nearby.

A California visitor reported his father M. A. Kerr of Brookings improving after a stroke though still unable to speak. J. R. Kerr and wife and family attend the state fair in Des Moines this week. Security Bank displays a three inch grasshopper preserved in a glass jar, part of a local insect bumper shipment sent by Elmer Campbell of Woonsocket.

Miss Grace Mabie of Sioux City visits Weatfield this week while Arch Lilly attends a mail carriers convention in Baltimore and visits Mt Vernon. Monday reports confirm the body of John McKellar and Mr and Mrs Walden Fry go to Sioux City for identification. The death fits the threatened outcome, offering the family some relief as a full grown deer is sighted nearby.
