Special Correspondent reports Ivens Day will be held on Monday. The event drew large crowds and was praised by the Chamber of Commerce. Nearby residents and many families visited Remsen and Sioux City areas and local churches reported preparations for the upcoming observance.
Seney reports Mr and Mrs John Lancaster and daughter Ina along with Vincent and M J Lancaster and Mrs Alice Cooper travelled to Hawarden to visit Mrs Cooper's son Irving and his family. Mr and Mrs Albert Penning hosted dinner guests Sunday including Mr and Mrs Louis Memery and two daughters from Mitche 8 D and Mr and Mrs Win G.
A family group including Mr and Mrs Lester Boyd and sons Kenneth and Fay and Mrs Christy Moffatt arrived home from a month long motor trip to Salem Oregon and Montana. A J Thornton learned of his brother Tom Thornton death in a Veterans hospital. Donald McDougall son of Mr and Mrs 3 J McDougall is in a CCC camp at Whiting Iowa. Carolyn Coad and Dorothy Mieras of LeMary visited Ned Spaulding home. School opens Monday Sept 2 with registration in the morning and classes dismissed for the day. regular work resumes Tuesday Sept 3. Mrs Ray Dennison and her little son return from Sioux City hospital where the child is recovering from swallowing a safety pin. Miss Alice Muaysonholder returned from a western trip including a San Diego exposition. Wearfield’s independent ball team may add two more victories to their streak, one over the Presty cafe of Sioux City.
Mr and Mrs Fda Plueger from California visited here several days. The Le Mars shoppers included Mr and Mrs Ben Toe and Mrs Albert Collmann with An na Johnson. Visitors from Craig included Mrs Ben Borchers and Mr John Johnson household. Nebraska visitors Mr and Mrs Fred Flachmann and Mr Limbeck returned home after a week. Westfield residents Mr Herb Morris and sons Hans Robert and Richard shopped in Le Mars. A free dance occurred in Brunsville Saturday night. Louie Thunhurst hosted visitors from Alcester and Art Gronemeyer hosted Fred Renken’s guests Sunday. Bob Thunherat returned to Alcester after a stay here.
A Holstein celebration drew several attendees including Otto Osterbuhr and family. Mr and Mrs Dick Asselin and family from Lincoln Nebraska visited Hank Oltmanns on Friday afternoon during the weekend event.
Craig Mrs Orpha Noble visits relatives in South Dakota and Wayne Nebraska while Irene Noble returns home to attend the state college. Local residents travel to Omaha for medical aid and car buyers are named. Several families host guests, including the Flaughmans and Lumbecks, and area schools reopen with various teachers assigned. Local church services are noted.
Grant Rev John Plueger and family from Tescott Kansas join relatives here before Rev Plueger departs Friday for a Nebraska conference. Theodore Plueger will travel with Mrs Plueger toward Nebraska and New Mexico on their return. The group also includes relatives visiting in Michigan and Illinois as plans unfold for trips and birthdays amid a busy community scene.
Hancock reports a group of F. L. G. club girls and chaperone Mrs. T. A. Ross spent the weekend at Mc Cook Lake with swimming and camp cookery. Most girls earned sunburns but say they had a good time. Billy Bowles, grandson of Milo Reno, spoke at the Farmers Union picnic at Beghcienne's on August 29. Mary Duffy visits her Sioux Falls aunt this week. Mrs. Logan Kelly left for Atlantic Iowa for work. Mrs. A. W. Johnson seeks rooms for rent and finds one for her daughter Mary McElroy. The F. L. G. girls and mothers attend a annual mother-daughter tea at J. A. Steurtevant home Wednesday. Ross school exterior repainted by Rob Ross and assistant. other schools cleaned and repainted inside. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Mosher and Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Weber attend.
