Escaped Woman Fleeing Nine Miles Found at Farm Home
A nineteen year old woman called Rosie fled nearly nine miles clad only in a light wrapper and barefoot. She reached Ed Vondrak’s farm north of Sioux City where dogs pursued her and she was badly injured. Vondrak found her after the struggle. Authorities offered no statement beyond that the young woman was back with them.

Traveling man Pat OConnell injured in Iowa rail crossing crash
Pat OConnell of LeMars suffered serious chest injuries after a high speed collision with a hay rack at a crossing near Alden while traveling with Herbert Roback, a former Le Mars man, aboard an Illinois Central gasoline motor car. OConnell was taken to his home in West Dodge. He had married Lou Lands, daughter of longtime LeMars resident J D Lands.

Leases White Theatre to Andrew Van Dalfson

Fire destroys barn and granary on Seney area farm
A Sunday fire two miles north of Seney destroyed a barn 16 by 24 feet, a 10 by 12 foot corn crib, a granary and a stable. Losses amount to about 600 to 700 dollars with 200 dollars insured. tenant RB Zimmerman lost his entire oats crop and 400 bushels of shelled corn. Farm owned by Daniel and Dennis McCarthy on Clark Street.

Remsen Suffered Severe Fire at Watnys Hotel
A Sunday morning blaze in Remsen destroyed Watnys hotel and the adjoining bass store area, with winds helping limit loss. The building, wood framed, burned rapidly, causing about 6000 dollars in damage and partial insurance. Firefighters abandoned the hotel, aided by L. M. Hays and others, as flames rose high and visible for miles.

A home wedding at Mrs Barnes on Madison Street united Miss Flora Na with her groom in a simple ceremony attended by about one hundred guests. Death of William Golden in Sioux City at 33
William Golden died of appendicitis in Sioux City aged thirty three. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Cathedral of the Epiphany and the remains were taken to LeMars for interment. He was born in Jackson County Michigan and grew up on a Plymouth County farm. He was a brother of Thos Golden of Woodstock Minnesota and a sister Mrs Mary Burke of Duluth. He was a stepbrother of the McMahon boys of Maurice and Strable and of Port McMahon of Shenandoah.

Strange Man Drops Dead on Patterson Farm West of LeMars
A man giving the name Thomas Coleman from Omaha collapsed and died while talking with workers on J. W. Patterson’s farm about sixteen miles west of LeMars. The coroner arranged for the body’s removal and sought the mother or relatives in Omaha to decide on disposition. No word had been received from Omaha by Tuesday evening.
