Death claims pioneer citizen Peter Steele at home
Peter Steele a well known Plymouth County figure and longtime church supporter died from heart failure Monday afternoon in LeMars after a day marked by church attendance and light domestic duties. He endured heart disease for years and leaves a large family including H P Steele of Denver and George Steele of Stanton along with several other relatives. Funeral plans were set as relatives traveled to LeMars to attend.

A longtime Presbyteria n church member and rider in Union township was memorialized in a funeral service held Tuesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church. Rev. Wim. G. Moore officiated the rites honoring a man devoted to his faith and community.

Assault by hammer at Wagner's saloon sparks arrest
William Heeren north of LeMars was struck with a hammer in Wagner's saloon on Tuesday evening. Heeren required stitches after the scalp wound. The assailants fled. a warrant was sworn out at the mayor's office. Reports describe the attackers as two strangers, one smaller and two brothers, drinking nearby before the assault. The injured man sought remedy from a physician.

Important Wil Case Decided in Orange City Will Verdict
The Berry will case in Orange City, Iowa, ended with a jury unable to reach a verdict after deliberations from Friday to Sunday. Seven votes favored breaking the will, five favored upholding it.
