Lucken Aims Amendment For Full Time Lieutenant Governor
The 1969 Iowa Legislature sponsor Sen Lucken Republican from Le says a constitutional amendment would create a year round lieutenant governor as top assistant to the governor with a set salary. The lieutenant would preside over the senate, be in line for succession, and be elected with governor candidates by convention. If the lieutenant governor runs for governor, the governor may demand resignation. The Senate president and House speaker would follow in line.
