Club members gathered Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Percy Kistle’s home for Red Cross service and social visits. An attractive afternoon tea was served at 4 15.
Members enjoyed a Wednesday afternoon meeting hosted by Mrs. George Kluckholen with a 1 18 dessert lunch followed by Contract bridge. Frank Nuebel and East Side card club fellowshipped with pinochle and a late lunch. Circle two met at Mrs. W K Hemphill with Mrs. Grant Shelton leading devotions and social courtesy extended by Mrs. Lorenzen and Mrs. Shelton. Mrs. Chris Miller invited others.
Linger Longer club members will meet Friday afternoon at Lillian Miller’s home. Margaret Vander Meer will read a paper on racial problems, following the usual luncheon and card game.
Community items announce Preston No 6 school program on Nov 22 at 8 15 p m with free lunch led by Blanche Ball Zonolite insulation mentions Best by in town from J F Nele Lumber and Coal Co There is a banquet and initiation for Business and Professional Woman's club on Nov 21 at 7 pm at the Eagles club Mrs Clara Owen chairs the dinner Christine Petersen conducts the initiation A local man returns a lost fountain pen earning a reward at Sioux City A Craig school program is set for 8 pm on Tue Nov 21 with 10c and 15c admission and free lunch Teachers listed as Helen Kallsen and Darlene Schlesser
Cecil Null of Struble is resting at Hawarden hospital after severe injuries from a corn picker last Thursday. His arm was amputated and a badly crushed leg may be saved if infection does not set in. Card of thanks from the Schumann family expresses appreciation for kindness, flowers, pantry supplies, singing, and Rev. Voss. Social Six club to meet at Mrs. Nick Majeres with pinochle and late luncheon. Poultry winnings from D-Company and Lefion party to be picked up at Joe Sheehan’s by Friday. Janet Meis shower guests receive gifts and a reception follows with informal entertainment and luncheon.
