The piece accuses warmongers including Roosevelt administration members of exploiting Armistice Day to push for more war. It condemns Roosevelt for praising Wilson’s war, denying regrets for casualties, and framing the 1917-18 conflict as a liberty crusade while blaming it for Nazism, Communism, and the New Deal.
A Brunsville farewell party honored Mrs Dena Didiker and family as they move to LeMars for the winter. Local gatherings featured visiting and dancing, with a luncheon and a useful gift for the honoree. Several residents visited relatives in Minneapolis and Omaha while others traveled to Crete and Los Angeles. Sunday visits from Mr and Mrs Sam Harly and their children of Leeds. Teresa Harms of Des Moines spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Henry Harms. Mrs Sam Haudenschild returned home from Sacred Heart hospital improved. Marney Jolfs and children from Iona MN visited locals Sunday. Mrs Herman Popken hosted the Ladies Aid Thursday.
Union by special correspondent reports a farewell gathering last Tuesday for Mrs Dotzauer visiting Mrs Eyres. Guests included Mrs Ralphp hchenden and Mrs Earl Morton with games and Halloween refreshments. Others noted are Mrs Russell Williams and sons visiting from Blooming Prairie Minnesota and local visits to Spencer Sheldon Sioux City and Pierson areas.
Special correspondence reports a Grant Luther League gathering at the Grant Lutheran school house on Sunday evening with Misses Lucella and Elnora Lubben performing. Relatives and friends visited the Walter Molzen home Saturday to honor his birthday, and Hilbert Hennings and son Lloyd were guests at the Jack Ludwigs Sunday evening. Additional relatives gathered at the Fred Borchers home to celebrate Mrs. Borchers birthday. Eddie, Clarence, Regina and others participated.
Clara Plueger and sister Louise visit in Cheroke Tuesday. John Ludwigs hosts a birthday reminder gathering with Claus Siebens and others Friday. John Kruse shells corn for George Renken and Jack Ludwigs hosts a Saturday gathering. Several families attend a wedding dance at Brunsville Saturday. Harold Levering heads to Fort Des Moines induction center with Sioux County youths. Immanuel Reformed church farewell for Rev H Van Raalte in Clinton Wis. Maurice Women’s Club sponsors smallpox vaccination and diphtheria immunization at public school with Dr H D Oggel assist. Multiple local visits and farm activity noted through the week.
Maurice De Kock and Mrs. Erwin Reinking hosted a Friday evening pre-nuptial courtesy at Mrs. Reinking's home for Wallace Van Roekel and his bride-to-be Annetta Jansma. Guests enjoyed games and a kitchen shower, with refreshments served late. Attending were William and Dorothy Smits, Clarence Kuiken, Jake Brink, Lena Vander Brake, John Pease, and Delbert Van Pearsem of St. Louis. The note ends mid-sentence with an item about Delbert Van Pearsem purchasing the 160.
Fredonia C P Kloster and daughter Tina Miller visited Carl Millers in Cherokee Sunday. Mr and Mrs Andrew Bogh visited Mrs Bradell at St Joseph's hospital in Sioux City Sunday. Niels Mortensen Eldon Leona and Woodrow Petersen visited H C Andersens Sunday. Relatives helped Nis Mortensen celebrate his birthday Friday. Dorcas Aid had a small turnout due to bad roads at Mrs Hans Millers home. Axel Petersen visited Rev Jacobsen's in Marcus Wednesday. Luther League met at the church Wednesday. Sam Lund visited Herman Millers Wednesday evening.
