The Le Mars Soft Ball League enters its second week with teams in form. A highlight was the Wells vs Pepper clash Friday night where two top pitchers started. Wells edged Pepper 3 to 2 in eight innings. Standings list Wells St Johns Eagles.
The schedule lists matchups for the week starting Monday May 26 at 8 30. On Monday Co op plays Wells and Holy Name faces St Johns on Tuesday. Wednesday features Hayles versus Pepper followed by Mill against Margo on Thursday.

Sympathy extends to the families of Frederick Krosch and Mrs Bliss after an extended illness.

Henry James Seymour, born in Lyons Clinton County Iowa, died May 15 1947 at Sioux City Methodist hospital age 81. Pallbearers were his four sons and two nephews. Burial followed at Climbing Hill Cemetery.
Orlo Cooper, maker of hobby scooters, is developing a deluxe model with all weather protection and two retractable landing wheels. The scooter will feature an aircraft style joy stick steering, a 10 HP engine, and a top speed of 50 mph on the road. It aims for driver comfort, an extra passenger, and lower costs than cars once in production. Regular licenses cannot be issued before age 16, and the design promises easier driving than a car.
