Accidents on 4th Street and Highway 75 mar May 2

At 9:05 am on May 2 a collision occurred between a 1950 Pontiac driven by Richard Singer heading west and a 1954 Plymouth driven by Thomas Hansen of Hinton turning east on Highway 75 at 4th Street. both cars sustained $50 damage. Later at 9:30 pm the same day a 1950 Plymouth driven by John Dirks and a 1948 Chevrolet driven by George Clausen stopped for a train and collided. damage listed as $10 per car.

Retreat Of Both Ys To Be Saturday

Westmar college YM YWCA will hold a joint retreat for old and new cabinet officers at 7:15 am May 9 at the college farm near Le Mars. Mrs Emma C Bender died unexpectedly at Sacred Heart hospital Sunday May 3 10 am after only hours of admission. Born April 8 1873 in Keystone Iowa she had lived in Le Mars 52 years and resided with her daughter Esther Smith city librarian at 126 GSLSE. Funeral services to be held at St Johns United Church Le Mars conducted by Rev M Straube with remains at Wittgen Luedtke funeral home. Survivors include Henry Bender Watertown and other relatives in Le Mars Cedar Falls and Portland Oregon. funeral arrangements pending with family members arriving.

Under a doctor's care a 9 pound daughter Jewel Lee was born April 27 to Mr and Mrs Arnold Ubben of Monta. Ubben is manager at Westmar College. The Ubben family also has one son. Several relatives and patients are listed as being at Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars and Kingsley. A son was born Sunday to Mr and Mrs George Black of Le Mars at Sacred Heart hospital.

Woman Dies in Highway Crash Near Larrabee

Olson, a man nicknamed Manic GI, died when his car failed on highway 59. Officers say cause of the crash is undetermined. Survivors include wife Alice and five daughters and four sons. Daughters Irvin French Duluth Minn, Mrs Gap Estherville, Mrs Stoneking Fremont, Joan, Eleanor at home. Surviving sons Phillip, Church Dan, Ja, Robert, Carl, Irvin all in Omaha. Mother of five brothers and three sisters among others: Hulda Olson Larabee, Emil Larabee, Bene Meriden, Bortone Bear, Cherokee, Ren Followay Cherokee. Services held at Larabee Methodist Church with American Legion rites. Burial at Cherokee Oak Hill Cemetery.
