Death of James A Freer in LeMars
James A Freer, a lifelong Plymouth County resident, died Monday evening at about 4 after a long illness due to heart disease. Born in Pennsylvania, he was 67. He homesteaded in Stanton township in 1870, later moving to LeMars three years ago. He was unmarried and lived with a sister prior to death. The funeral from his late home was led by Rev. C J Moore of the First Baptist Church. The service drew a large crowd.

Court adjourns after long April term with divorces and indictments
The April term of the district court opened with Judge Oliver. Grand jury was chosen and returned indictments including larceny against Walter Randall. Numerous divorce petitions were heard. Isadore Thayer granted a decree after cautious examination. Peters and Melcher sought separations and marriages to new spouses following decrees. Several civil cases were settled or dismissed, and the court adjourned to May 5 after a day off for recuperation.
