Death of John Hickie in Cherokee Asylum

John Hickie eldest son of Mrs Pau lina Hickis of Stanton township died at the Cherokee asylum on Wednesday. His remains were shipped to LeMars on Thursday. Funeral will be held Saturday conducted by Rev Dunkelberger. He was about 35 years old and had been confined in the asylum for two years after losing his reason.

Miss Elsie Harker Weds James Frost in Merrill Home

Miss Elsie Harker and James Frost of Merrill were married March 20 at 4 pm at the Harker home officiated by Rev. Gilbert of the First Methodist. Relatives and close friends witnessed with Lydia Harker as bridesmaid and Wragh Harker as best man. The couple will reside in Merrill. Babe Found Dead in Ash Pile Behind Carnegie Library

A seven year old boy, Paul Brick, found a fully developed baby girl’s body in an ash pile behind LeMares Carnegie Library. Coroner Beely was notified and will inspect the remains to determine if the infant was alive at birth. The case prompted mayoral and police involvement.
