New Tire Permits Issued By Tire Board Across Iowa Towns

Lester high school beat Aston 42 27 to stay undefeated in the class B final alongside East High’s 85 44 victory over Trinity for class A. Schnepf and Hollenbroek starred for Lester while Pentony led East and Birmingham Gillham shone for Trinity. Trinity edged LeMars 4 points Friday as the damp Western Union gym forced cautious play.

State Pork Race invites Plymouth County swine producers

County Agent Paul McNutt urges Plymouth County swine producers to enter the State Pork Race recognizing Iowa’s top 25 producers. Entries require 8 sows, spring 1942 farrowing, and data on farrowing, pigs weaned and marketed, selling date and total weight of two hogs. Nominations may come from the farmer or via agents, instructors, or organizations. submissions go to the animal husbandry extension service in Ames.

The Men's Baraca Brotherhood of the First Baptist church invites church members and the congregation to an event on Tuesday evening March 17 at 8 o'clock in the church. Rev. Glenn BE. Teachers Contract Renewal Law Details

The law allows continuation of contracts for teachers in service on April 15 for the coming year unless the board terminates by notice. It preserves the board's power to discharge a teacher for cause under section 4237. The renewal is by mutual consent of the board and the teacher and does not limit dismissal for just cause.

Remsen Pioneer John Sanny Laid To Rest

John Sanny a 77 year old Remsen pioneer died Wednesday after a brief illness. He was born May 19 1864 in Elmshorn Germany and came to America at 14 settling in Benton County Iowa before moving to Plymouth and finally Meadow townships in Sioux County. Survived by his widow two sons Frank and Charles C a daughter Ida Sibrell and a sister Hans Frendt, with a funeral held Saturday at his home and St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church.

John Phelps of Kingsley Public School won Plymouth county spelling contest held in Le Mars last Friday with Noar Rae Dennison second and Ruth Ludwigs third. John will represent Plymouth county at the State Spelling Contest in Des Moines on April 25, with Nora Mae Dennison as alternate.
