Furniture Stolen From VY Elliott Home

Executors report thieves broke into the farm house east and north of Le Mars Saturday night and took a roll top desk chair and a dresser from Vernon Elliott who is a patient at the county home. Leads on the theft are being followed today. Also noted is a Northwest Iowa rodeo and junior high instrumental contest at Westmar on March 14 with about 1,100 solo contestants and 2 ensemble groups from 39 area schools, in cooperation with the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association.

Mother of Eleven Named Plymouth County Mother of the Year

Mrs. Ben Held of Hinton is selected as Mother of the Year candidate by Plymouth County Farm Bureau women. The Held family runs 540 acres with Howard and Chester White pigs. Their 31 children, all graduates of Morningside College, include teachers. Mrs. Held is active in WSCS PTA 4-H church and civic affairs and Farm Bureau since 1928.

Missing Hogs Reported by A C Luther in Plymouth County

A C Luther told Sheriff Frank Scholer that 21 hogs are missing from a farm in western Plymouth county. Some farms lack tenants and hogs are pastured and housed there. The report lists 21 hogs, two sons and 19 butchers as linked to the loss.

Thursday at 3 p.m. Gerda Wessle Heeren’s 1964 Ford lost control and struck the First National Bank Building, causing about $100 damage to the right fender grill and bumper. Le Mars police investigated. March 6 at 4:15 p.m. a head‑on collision on Highway 33 near Seney involved a 1955 Bord owned by Otto Van Roeckel and a 1962 Studebaker driven by G Gordon Alexander of Sauk Rapids Minnesota. Alexander was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
