Citizens Favor Carnival After Meeting in LeMars
A Wednesday evening meeting at the mayor's office, presided by H. J. Linden, showed almost unanimous support for a LeMars carnival this year. Secretary Louden Slager reported last year's carnival had a $147.49 surplus. About sixty people attended. roughly thirty five favored holding the carnival, with twenty abstaining. A committee of J. I. Blelstein, Nic Wester, and O. G. Berer was appointed to canvass business men, especially last year’s contributors, and report at the adjourned meeting next Monday evening.

Accident injures Mrs Utesch and daughter by buggy fall
Friday evening near Sixth and Howard streets Mrs Frank Utesch and her about fourteen year old daughter were badly hurt when their buggy was jolted by a frightened team. Scott Ewers driving an auto stopped but could not avert the crash. Mrs Utesch was frightened and bruised. her daughter escaped with minor injuries. Dr Brick attended and both later returned home. No damage to horses or vehicle.

LeMars played well this week winning a tight Tuesday game at Cherokee 4 to 3 aided by strong defense from Smith in center field and errorless play. O keefe pitched well for Cherokee, while LeMars benefited from costly errors by Cherokee. LeMars then beat Storm Lake 3 to 0 on Wednesday and lost a close 4 to 3 home game Thursday at Cherokee. Umpire Russell officiated.

The case, tried about two weeks earlier, was taken under advisement until June 223.
