Farm Trends Show Fewer Small Keepsakes In Iowa Nine County Area
An Iowa State University extension study on the Fort Dodge region covering Boone Calhoun Carroll Greene Hamilton Humboldt Pocahontas Webster and Wright counties finds nearly 4700 farms disappeared from 1949 to 1964. Very small farms decline rapidly while farms earning 5000 to 10000 stay down but gradually fall. Medium and large farms with 10000 plus yearly sales rise across the area.
