Assembly Fails to Approve Bills in Dennler Case
Iowa Legislature adjourned without funding to cover about 310 000 in expenses for the Legislative Interim Committee that investigated the firing of state milk sanitarian Richard Dennler. Senate Republicans debated paying Des Moines attorney Stephen Robinson in full, while Chairman Sen. Franklin S. Main proposed partial payment. The committee planned to pay claims for Greer court reporters and witnesses, with possible approval after a June 14 comptroller review. Dennler’s January firing led to the resignation of Huda Felland and the succession of Nicholas Coad as milk and food laboratory head.
