Plymouth County Institute closes after annual teachers session

The thirty third Plymouth county institute concludes tomorrow evening after a well attended year. Held in Western Union college classrooms the event features instructors County Superintendent Hise and educators from Yale Western Union and local high schools. A long list of attending teachers is presented with numerous names and affiliations among county educators.

Another Pioneer Gone Lucius Hastings Called to His Final Reward

Lucius Hastings of Plymouth county died Saturday night at his LaMars home after a ten month illness at age 70. Born March 8, 1836 in Deerfield Michigan, he lived on a Stan ton township farm and retired in 1895. He served briefly in Civil War era patriotic aims but was rejected for health. Survived by widow Harriet, daughter Mrs. M. Bixby, three grandchildren, a brother and two sisters. Funeral Monday at First Presbyterian church in LaMars with Rev. W G Moore officiating. pallbearers named social peers.

Fort Dodge Club Guests Welcome in LeMars

Fort Dodge Commercial Club guests with the Fifty-six regiment band arrived in LeMars on Wednesday evening. More than two hundred visitors joined a parade along Main street and 175 supper guests were served at the Union. Senator J. P. Dolliver accompanied the party as they promoted business ties and enjoyed a concert by the band. The event featured hospitality from the Elks and Pratiris clubs and free acts at Parker’s White City.

Head Split Open In Farm Separator Accident Near Mammen

George Frerichs seventeen died after a cream separator exploded while three brothers operated it at the farm two and a half miles west of Mammen. Henry was wounded near the heart and eye, Ernest injured, while two younger boys escaped. Dr. Richey treated the injured. funeral services followed.

Death of Frank Etzel in LeMars Freight Accident

Frank Etzel, about 65, was killed when struck by an Omaha freight engine while working on a gravel crew near LeMars. He died within an hour after being taken to hospital. A Roman Catholic, he left a widow and nine children, with large farm and real estate holdings. Funeral services were at St Josephs church and drew many mourners.
