Donald Banks Named July Soil Conservation Cooperator

Donald Banks of Hancock township is honored as Cooperator of the Month by commissioners Wom Kenny Don Lucken and Dar Stigmann for outstanding soil conservation efforts begun in 1957 with erosion reduction on his Sioux town pasture. La Vern Feusney assisted, recommending basin terraces. Banks helped organize a P. L. 566 watershed the Ross watershed area includes his farm. He has served as assistant commissioner to the Soil Conservation district, with district staff praising his leadership and community service.

Librarian Grows Northwestern College Home

Northwestern college library assistant Haspers will receive a home in the Kepp apartments as part of a community consideration. Don Wier, longtime local figure, helped organize the Gant Crook Watershed and contributed to regional soil conservation efforts with Lum Nelson and Bet Wiel. In the 1960s he joined farming improvements and erosion control projects on his farm in Hannes Township.
