They departed Sunday evening for Aurora after a week with relatives.

Fire destroys farm house west of Ruble
A house on the Kate Tsitauras farm a mile west of Ruble was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. A Westfield widow and her children were to dwell there, but her name was not reported. Harold Klemme and his family spotted the blaze and alerted neighbors including Bob Sargent, Gordon Klemme and Clark Tin-Tindall farms, who swiftly responded.

Rock Valley marshal nabs crooks in cash fake scam
James C Clark 29 and Mrs Clark cashed $23.50 checks at Boyd’s Food Center and Bud’s Frozen Food Market in St Paul Minnesota and Toledo Ohio area. They received two consecutive seven year terms at Fort Madison for drawing and uttering bad checks. The couple used two Buicks with California and Tennessee plates. They stayed in a Rock Valley motel and were captured after inconsistencies in their story. Their small child was placed with juvenile authorities.

Teen Driver Escapes Injury After Car Turnover Near Merrill
Danny Dobbert 17 of Le Mars escaped with cuts and bruises when his car overturned while he slept at the wheel three miles south of Merrill. Passenger Leon Schwarz also unharmed. Police report the incident occurred early Sunday as the vehicle traveled north toward Le Mars. A separate two car collision occurred about 12:15 a.m. on High- Street.
