Donald Everett Taylor, 46, known as Sgt Rich ard O Leary, received an indeterminate term not over seven years in the Fort Madison penitentiary after pleading guilty in district court to obtaining property under false pretenses. Judge R G Rodman of Cherokee imposed the sentence, based on an information filed by Osceola County Attorney L Corcoran. Sheriff and Mrs L D Wilson accompanied Taylor to the penitentiary.
Taylor was arrested about June 15 after buying a used pickup with a no-fund check and gaining the confidence of several residents of Sibley who aided him, believing him to be a kindly wounded war veteran. He arrived in a wheel chair, pretended to be a radio repairman, and left town after the incident. The man was not a cripple but an ex convict and former Eldora training school inmate. He had previously posed as Sgt. O Leary in 1941, recruiting for the army and abandoning 35 boys in Des Moines who were later returned to Eldora.
Akron seeks to form a municipal band for the summer with many already showing interest. Musicians from the High School band and adults with band experience are invited to join. A meeting and opening rehearsal will be at the public school music room next Tuesday evening July 26 at 7 30 led by Director R C Lutter.

John Campbell and family of Des Moines Jr. are visiting several days at the Frank Beguin home.
