NFO pushes reseal plan for 1963 soybeans

The National Farmers Organization pressed the Agriculture Department for a reseal plan extending the current price support to July 31, 1965. By storing beans, farmers would receive a storage payment and may avoid rapid selling, with NFO claiming the move could lift 14 cents per bushel on the 1963 crop. Juvenile Probation Hearings In Le Mars Case

Two boys aged 14 and 15 admitted taking $60 from a Le Mars home. They received voluntary probation under the county probation officer with restitution arranged. One was a school drop-out ordered to return to school in fall. A later informal hearing involved a 14-year-old who broke car body windows. owners did not file charges and the boy received voluntary probation. None had prior records.

Rear end collision at Merrill station injures two cars

At Merrill station on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Kenneth Epling halted his 1955 Ford to turn into Major Co. off highway 75 when he was struck from the rear by Abraham Abdoud of Sioux City driving a 1960 Chevrolet. Epling’s car had bumper and taillight damage. Abdoud’s car suffered grille bumper headlight and radiator damage and was towed to a Hinton garage.

Two cars in ditch after rainstorm near Le Mars

Seven people escaped injury when a southbound car driven by Mrs. Gerrit Teunissen and a car driven by Clarence Vos slid off highway 75 into a ditch at 11 20 p m last Friday six miles north of Le Mars near the Harold Albert farm. The Teunissen children Nordina three and Harlow and the Vos party Jennie Lowell and Nelzena twelve were unharmed. Wrecker removal left both cars operable. The Teunissen Rambler 1961 and the Vos Chrysler 1963 were driven away after the mishap.

Snake plant blooms rare for Mrs Schoenrock garden

Mrs Mabel Schoenrock of mouth St. SE reports her century old snake plant flowering about every few years. She notes three spikes and small white fragrant blossoms lasting about a week this summer while the plant remained indoors. A reader confirms the bloom, and a separate note mentions a National Tea Car quarterly payment of 20 cents per share to shareholders of record August 7.
