Council Favors Municipal Plant in LeMars

City council discussed launching a municipal water and power plant to curb high rates, citing examples from other towns. The LeMars Chamber of Commerce pledged full cooperation as aldermen reviewed funding, street crossings, and a complete sewage and water map while approving various city funds and tax measures.

Notable visits and birthday greetings in Grant area

Mr and Mrs John Roth of Madison were visiting relatives. Henry Heiken worked for Charles Renken during harvest. Miss Luvila Renken returned home after a hospital stay. Relatives of the Renken family gathered to celebrate a birthday. Rev Gillmann and son Hilbert visited the Stenhigs. A kitten ball game between North and Sour Grant ended 4 to 6 in favor of North Grant.

Local notes from Wagner and area list travels births and visits

Pat O'Hare of Wagner and relatives visited here and at Maurice. Miss Joanne McDougall vacationing with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nanninga near Sioux Falls. A baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wells of Treton at Hawarden hospital. Various residents attended meetings, trips, and family visits in LeMars Hawarden Sioux City and nearby towns during early July.

Weekend visits and travels around LeMars area noted

A string of local social visits and trips are reported. Harold Ostlund of LeMars called on friends here Saturday while the Wiggs spent the weekend at the lakes. Several families including McDougalls and Nanningas visited near Sioux Falls and Ellsworth Minnesota. Nellie Edwards left for six weeks in the west visiting Long Beach California relatives. A Fourth of July picnic at the Baack home in Craig is mentioned along with various other visits to Sioux City Sergeant Bluffs Remsen and Alton. The drop in temperature is noted as welcome for harvest. Sheriff Rippey of LeMars was here on business Monday. Rev J B Greteman Calista Ahmann visited Remsen friends. Mrs Frank Long and daughters Rose returned from a trip to South Dakota.

Westfield and Sloan Residents in Weekend Events

Westfield by Sloan hosted visits from Mr and Mrs Peterson and family. Rain canceled two July 4 baseball games at Riversloux park, while Westfield Lam defeated Elk Point 2 0 there Sunday. Numerous locals hosted guests and attended services and visits across adjacent towns.

Warren was taken to Hawar den hospital and then brought to his home here. We are glad to state that he is much improved.

Death of Mrs Titus Van Bruggen Shocks Ireton Community

Mrs Titus Van Bruggen of Ireton died early Monday at Sacred Heart hospital LeMars after gall bladder surgery and blood disorder treatments. Survived by her husband and ten children with two predeceased. funeral held at Christian Reformed church with Rev J R Van Dyke officiating.

The Farmers' Union game with the Winneba go Indians was postponed. The Farmers' Union will cross bats with climbing Hill at climbing Hill. July 12, Mr and Mrs Lenard Breed and children visited Riverview. Mr and Mrs Charles Epling attended the funeral of Margaret Wilde of Sioux City, a niece of Will.

Local farmer injured by charging cow near Le Mars

Langle and Albert Petergon, formerly of the area, were attacked by a cow Wednesday evening. Petergon was knocked down and trampled but escaped after kicking the animal in the nose. He was taken to Le Mars hospital where X rays showed multiple fractures and possible internal injuries. The 4th of July picnic was postponed due to rain. Lincoln lifters defeated Hungerford 8 to 2. Lorna Wiener returned home after visiting at the Heimgartner residence.

Visiting at Mrs Halderman s home, Mrs Rose Beardsley and family host. Det Hodgen and spouse spend Saturday in Cherokee. Glen Smith family drive to Spencer to view damage from a fire. Vincent Delper dang and family visit John Murray home. Murray family moved into Marion Beardsley s former house. Beardsley family moves into new home. R A Browne and children Phyllis and Maurice spend Monday at Lake Okoboji and plan to visit Minnesota relatives. Harry Weagle family return after visiting Mrs Weagle s parents in Pierson and sister Mrs Forrest Hammer.

Dr. Ernest Lent of Columbia and family visited cousin Mrs. T. M. Navin. Mrs. Andermer and children of Sioux City visited Mrs. Har Old Gilmour. Smith Creasey visited in South Dakota. M. F.
