County extension director Don P. Carter reports guidance from Ed Cott on preventing brown rot in peaches and plums. Starting 30 days before harvest, apply micro fine wettable sulfur at 3 tablespoons per gallon water every 10 days, in addition to spring sprays.
Field Day at Marcus on Tuesday July 12 at 1 30 p m will be held at John Sard farm one mile east and one mile south of Marcus. Bruce Floren assistant county extension director announced today. The program includes observation and discussion of twenty oat varieties eight flax varieties treated and non treated ten barley varieties and ten varieties each of spring and winter wheat. Dr John H Parker secretary of Midwest Barley Improvement Ass Milwaukee Wisconsin and Dr I J Johnson head of Farm Crops Subsection Iowa State College plus specialists L C Burnett R E Atkins and E S Dyas of Iowa State College will speak. A R Griffith county extension director will lead the meeting.
