Leslie Hutchins Injured In Bicycle Mishap

Leslie Hutchins thirteen at 316 Central Ave SE suffered a double fracture of her right leg after a bike tipped in the alley near the First Methodist Church around 8 p m Saturday. She was taken by ambulance to Floyd Valley hospital for x rays and later to St Joseph hospital. Mrs Jessie Thomas is visiting relatives in Weathersfield Connecticut.

Mars Military Band Prepares Fourth Of July Parade

On July 4, 1911 the Mars military band posed on the north side of the city building now Iowa Public Service. They planned to march to a ball park near the Le Mars hatchery block for a game against Remsen and Le Mars, drawing crowds. Warming trend seen in Le Mars ahead of July 4th

A warming trend emerged in Le Mars after a chilly Sunday with a high of 71. Forecasts call for higher temperatures through Tuesday and Wednesday, offering picnic and fireworks-friendly conditions on July 4. Light north winds and a low around 46 accompanied the unsettled start as furnaces ran and evening skies were partly cloudy.

Cleghorn Man Escapes Serious Injury In 67 VW Crash

Cleghorn resident Richard Lee Kruckman twenty six suffered only a sprained ankle and wrist bruises when his two day old 1967 Volkswagen was wrecked in a single vehicle crash at 12 35 am Sunday half a mile north of James on Highway 75. Patrolman Wruck said the car rolled into a ditch and back onto the shoulder after a front wheel flat caused a collision with a bridge. He estimated the car traveled about 80 feet and that Kruckman was driving about 45 mph with a Hinton witness at the scene.

Kimberly Lubben Bitten by Dog in Le Mars

Two year old Kimberly Lubben daughter of Mr and Mrs Jerry Lubben of Le Mars was bitten by a large dog at her grandparents home and sustained a scalp laceration. She received stitches at Dr Faber’s office in Le Mars and is reported to be getting along fine.

Mount and Bogenrief Shine at Foster Park Band Concert

Two soloists highlight Wednesday night's 8 pm Foster Park band concert. John Mount a Colorado Boulder junior sings South Pacific and the Sound of Music. Dick Bogenrief, a junior next year at University of Town Town City, plays Trumpet Royale. Other numbers include Walt Disney Overture and Hello Dolly selections. The event salutes Vietnam servicemen Patrick McGranahan and Kenneth Kruger Jr.

Special July display at Plymouth county museum features Mrs Harnack dolls

Open house on July 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. honors Mrs Herbert Harnack Remsen and her 300 doll collection. The exhibit includes 45 foreign countries and American Indian dolls with Old fashioned dolls dressed in clothes she designed. Coffee and cookies will be served.
