A devotional note highlights Paul the apostle’s claim in Romans 1 16 that he is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ offering salvation through faith to Jews and Greeks. It emphasizes faith in God as a solace amid suffering.
Postage changes set new per ounce rates at 6c for mail and 12c for two ounces with 18c for three. 80 ounce also listed. Air mail adds not required. 1935 fiscal year extends rates to June 20 1935. Rural route and train dispatch letters carry 2c and 3c per ounce respectively. Registered and special delivery rates continued. Insurance and parcel post rates unchanged. Postmaster notes stamps may pay with ordinary stamps.

Westfield residents and guests including Mrs Thos Hummel and Son, Floyd, Mrs J W Aumiel, and Raymond Conway traveled to Le Mars for a farm bureau meeting where Conway was on the program. St Catharine Guild held a large Thursday meeting in Community hall with hostesses Mesdames Frank Dennison and Steve Gant. no meeting July 5, next on July 19. The community mourns Mrs LaVerne Teager Hoffman who died last Thursday at Sioux City Methodist Hospital after years in the town. her husband Jno Hoff man left unnamed.
William Schweitzberger of near Kingsley died Sunday morning June 24 after several weeks illness. He aged 7 years 7 months born November 24 1856 in South City Wisconsin. He kept farm work despite age and rebuilt a new house after the previous fire. Survived by daughter Jennie Milton and son William Schweitzberger two sisters two brothers 15 grandchildren nine great grandchildren.ervices held at home and interment in Mount Olive cemetery Cherokee county.

Mrs August Kemnitz aged 73 on Tuesday and Mrs J G Grimes of Miller South Dakota shared their birthday with a visit at the home of Mrs Henry Schweppe. Neighbors and friends joined the celebration with an afternoon of visiting and a lovely birthday luncheon.
