A complaint filed in county court alleges Atgual assaulted a woman on December 14, 1942, injuring her face and body. The suit seeks extra and exemplary damages. Surgical dressings rooms will be open forenoons only from 9 to 12 Tuesday through Friday. Evening classes will be two evenings a week, Monday and Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services for Reed Dickinson, 82, were held at First Congregational Church in Sheldon. Dickinson, born near Sheldon on August 4, 186? remained there most of his life. Survived by widow and daughters, including Mrs. Fithel and Mrs. LeMars, and sons William Jr. and Leonard, plus six grandchildren.
Plymouth county Red Cross notes explain German and Italian POW camp names used in prisoner mail. Terms such as Stalag Lager Dulag Luft Oflag Milag and Nad Nacht tags are defined with examples and indicate branch, transit, and labor detachments. Italian camps use Campo P G numbers and Settore sections with S C for temporary camps.
Walter Heimgartner received strained ligaments in his left shoulder and arm when his car was caught between a switching train and a crossing signal. He is progressing satisfactorily though the injured arm remains very sore. Heimgartner said he did not see a watchman or brakeman at the crossing. MaBelle Sullivan remains at the army post hospital Fort Des Moines with a back injury. Clara Owen installs a large ventilating fan at the rear of her store, now fully air conditioned, inviting customers to visit and enjoy the cool air. Mr and Mrs R A Berner and Donna and Mrs Ida Berner drove to Sioux Falls South Dakota to visit Duane Berner at radio school.
Vern Lovely of Stewart purchased the Koenig Drug Store from George W Koenig who ran the business for 37 years. Lovely, a former Algona pharmacist, plans to move his wife and two children to LeMars once he finds a residence and will assume duties while Koenig stays on part time to assist.
Sheriff Frank Scholer adds clerks for the weekend to assist renewals. Friday and Saturday hours at the police station run 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with Saturday as the absolute deadline.
Plymouth County rationing board price panel has received few complaints but stands ready to act on violations of ceiling prices on new and used goods. Members Gen. V. Pew Rome Kovaleske and R. J. M. Long with Mrs. W. M. Haas as secretary expect to educate merchants and consumers, encourage amicable settlements, and channel all complaints through the local panel with strict enforcement to follow.
Warren Callahan of York Nebraska and Western Union College graduate class of 1940 was reported killed in action. He held the rank of lieutenant in the Navy and trained at Pensacola Florida. He taught dive bombing for 18 months before returning to active sea duty. While at college with Roy Speece he lived in a trailer home. He was son of Dr and Mrs B O Callahan of York Nebraska with no further details provided.
The Iowa Sheep and Wool Growers association reports wool pool returns are delayed due to a grading department staff shortage. About half a million pounds are behind, and the association says they are grading wood and issuing checks as soon as possible.
The park board has enlisted Clarke brothers of Hinton to maintain New Deal park grounds. Clark Construction Co. supplied 11300 head of sheep to graze and weed the area, and they have begun work on the grounds.
The Plymouth county Red Cross chapter will host a water safety instructor school at the municipal pool and shelterhouse July 19 to 24. Representatives from several western states are invited to join and learn to teach swimming and lifesaving. The six day course is free and conducted in six hour sessions, with Wheeler Van Steinburg directing as instructor in charge.
Alvin Mauer Jr and Wendell Tucker have been chosen as junior staff for scout outings this summer. They will attend Fort Dodge camp for a week and another outing at Okoboji. In August Alvin heads to Philmont New Mexico for a month of scout activities.
J C Penney Company stores nationwide begin an July war bond and stamp drive with a goal of 10 million dollars. Secretary Morgenthau praised Penney employees for volunteering to promote sales through July. The drive mirrors last year’s success and uses a store and employee contest for state and national awards.
A wedding was held at Trinity Lutheran church Amherst Cherokee county at 8 pm Tuesday. Miss Ruth Wittkopp daughter of Rev B L Wittkopp married Rev J Schroeder of Thief River Falls Minnesota. The ceremony was by the bride’s father assisted by Rev W E Schroeder. The bride a 1942 Marcus high school graduate and former Plymouth county teacher. The groom a Concordia College graduate who served at Trinity Marcus and lawton parish. They will live at the Bethlehem Lutheran parsonage in Lawton in a week or two.
The marriage of Miss Helen L. Holton and Lt. Mansur Tinsley was solemnized Tuesday June 29 at 9 am with Rev. W B Bauer officiating. Attending were Irene Holton and Donald Branwgin. The bride wore a dusty rose suit and carried a roses and sweet peas bouquet. The brides maid wore a black linen suit. Breakfast for the wedding party was at the Union hotel. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs N J Holton of Le Mars, is a Le Mars High School graduate and worked for the Farm Security administration in Denver. Lt. Tinsley, son of Mr. and Mrs J E Hinsley of Boulder, is a Missouri and Colorado graduate, affiliated with Sigma Nu, an attorney, now in army administration. They will reside in Salt Lake City.
Rev. A. C. Frerichs missionary will speak Sunday afternoon July 4 at 2 p m at Rev K Fenske's church in Preston township. He discusses return from New Guinea and experiences aiding soldiers, with notes on Buna campaign prisoners and observations of Japanese troops. Frerichs from Talmage Nebraska, St Olaf college Wartburg Seminary graduate. Mrs Hansen visited Sioux City.
Pantry Cafe owners Roy and John Hammer announced further reduced hours due to food rationing. Previously closing at 9 p m daily including weekends, the cafe will now close all day on Tuesdays until further notice. Next week a single exception will apply for Fourth of July, when it closes Monday and reopens Tuesday for the rest of the week.
Miss Edna Manz of Merrill marries Walter J. Kehrberg of LeMars in a Fort Dodge First Methodist ceremony on June 24 1943. Rev J M Howdeshell officiated. Attendants were Mr and Mrs W W Schwendemann. After a Wahkonsa hotel dinner the couple planned a brief eastern state trip. Manz is a former rural Plymouth county teacher. Kehrberg farms eight miles south of Le Mars.
Miss Bernice Galigan daughter of Mr and Mrs John Galigan wed John F Greff son of George Greff of Fuldar Minn Wednesday morning June 23 at Holy Name church Rev E L McEvoy officiated The bride wore white satin with lace and seed pearl headdress The groom wore a suit and guests included ninety relatives and Plymouth County residents among them M Bortscheller Peter Treinen and Ray Fiedler The couple plan to room with relatives while farming and work at local stores The bride attended Holy Name school class of 1941 and the groom Holy Name High School class of 1940 then attended the University of Iowa before returning to farming

Mr and Mrs J L Doud received a telegram Tuesday saying their son Berdon L Doud was seriously injured in maneuvers. A later telegram said he was somewhat improved but still in serious condition. The parents left Wednesday for Camp Livingston Louisiana to be with him.
Relatives and friends learned of the marriage on June 5 in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Junction City Kansas of Miss Dolores Vanderham daughter of Mr and Mrs H J Vanderham of Akron to Sergeant Lowell B Stinton of Fort Lewis Washington. They were attended by Miss Alice Humphrey and Corporal Benjamin Bryant cousins of the bridegroom both of Fort Lewis. Sergeant and Mrs Stinton are visiting the bride's parents at Akron and will return to Fort Lewis to live.
The Oil Fuel Board chair C. J. Isyres urged all occupants of oil heated homes to promptly file renewal applications to ensure adequate fuel supplies before winter. One third of coupons will be valid July 1 to speed early tank fillings, with reserve and change making coupons extended through the year. Householders should use period 1 and remaining period 5 coupons now and hold reserve coupons for later use.
