George Veddt conducted a large sale at his Merrill area farm on Thursday with 43 head sold. Prices ranged from 99 for the first steer to 84 for a three year old heifer, averaging 83.25 for the lot. Calves included six yearlings, four steer calves and seven heifer calves all calved since July, with heifer calves at 51.25. TP Morcrutapeos called the sale the finest band he ever sold, showing the county’s cattle are high quality.

About 20 members of Gateway camp No 2902 BR N A visited Mrs. Frank J Smith on Friday evening to honor her year as recorder and organist with a surprise party. They brought baskets and music, and presented a silver mounted cracker dish engraved with donors’ names as thanks for her faithful service. The gathering was a joyous neighborhood event with games and meals.
The marriage of Frank Krell and Marie Becker was solemnized at St Marys Church by Rev Schulte Tuesday morning with about fifty witnesses. An elaborate dinner followed at John Krells Meadow two home for invited guests. The couple will reside on Henry Schefflers farm in Fredonia township after March first.

Gov Ward hosts the first Plymouth county short horn sale at his model stock farm near LeMars on February 3. Sixty two herds of pure bred Short-horns will be offered, with a large barn and show ring to seat many observers. Mr Ward invites all stock-raisers to attend and be treated courteously whether they buy or not.
Miss Adna Nolan daughter of Mr and Mrs R J Nolan formerly of Struble now Las Vegas New Mexico and Mr Thomas Swain united in marriage at Las Vegas on January 14 The couple planned a wedding trip to Denver and other southwest points before returning to LeMars on Sunday They are Plymouth county natives with a wide circle of friends and will live on a farm near Merrill where they will be welcomed by many observers

The LeMars gas company is remodeling its plant near the union depot. Two benches of new retorts will be added to provide better service. The works will produce coal and water gas and plans to resume making its own coke. Manager Hinds says the improvements will nearly double capacity.
