Mrs. Herman Ereking of Le Mars announces a daughter born January 16 to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Schultz of Le Mars. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Book of Hinton report a daughter born January 17. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Beemer of Remsen announce a daughter born January 18.
Jack Bramble aged 18 in Sioux City was exposed to carbon monoxide from a motor used to blow insulation inside a City Hall back room. He was removed to Sacred Heart hospital and released the next morning.
Le Mars Public Civic Forum chair Harvey N. Kluckhohn said Sander Genis, a Twin Cities labor leader and Friday's guest speaker, is ill and cannot attend. The event proceeds with Prof. R. F. Patterson of the University of South Dakota presenting on Postwar Pinups.

Cpl. Kingsley Blaine Bowers, 34, native of Moville and Kingsley, later of Beresford S D, son of Mrs Ethel Miller Sioux City, was killed December 24 in Belgium with Gen Patton s Ninth Army armored division. Born July 13 1910 in Moville he was husband of Ruby Bowers of Beresford. Survived by seven sisters and two brothers, with two brothers in service. he attended schools in Kingsley and Moville and was stationed at Ft Knox before sailing overseas in August 1944.
Alton captured the game against St. Joseph 40 to 26 in Alton after opening 6 to 5. Thill led Hawks with 12 points but Van Roeckle topped the game with 20. Aston seconds beat St. Joe seconds 20 to 15 in the prelim, Trauffer scoring five.
Wayne University Golden Eagles defeated Western Union College 48 to 45 on Wayne’s home floor. Bob Schultz led all scorers with 18 points before fouling out early in the fourth quarter as two Western Union players exited on personals.
Wayne tops his team with 16 points as Garrigan and Bobier play key guard roles in a close matchup. The standout scorer from Wayne will travel for a return game in LeMars on February 7.
St. Joseph hammered St. Mary's 82 to 33 after leading most of the game. Doc Thill scored 16 and Sonny Nemmers 12 for St. Joe while Huffman and Bowles each had 11 for St. Mary's. The St. Joe seconds won 22 to 15 as Bill Trauffer led with 10 points.
The Plymouth County Corn and Small Grain show will not run this winter. It will be held next fall in conjunction with the 4-H and Agricultural Society Show at the show grounds. All residents may enter entries. 1944 corn and 1945 small grains, plus grasses, will be eligible. The event will also include fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, and other garden products, combining two shows for a larger fall display.
