Three-Time Milking Increases Milk Flow in Iowa Cows

In Black Hawk county the Pioneer Cow Testing Association shows three daily milkings raise milk flow. Cows from two herds increased output by 13.5 percent when moved from two to three milkings. Better breeding feeding and culling boost high producing cows needing three daily milkings. Profit rises exceed added costs, though irregular flow and udder trouble can occur if heavy producers aren’t milked three times daily.
