Deeds accounted for 837 filings, mortgages 381, certificates 2,076, certified copies 27, and miscellaneous fees 624. The fees were returned to the county and state, not kept by the office.
The Globe Post states it has vital statistics from the clerk and lists of petit and grand jurors for the February term of court. These items will run in Monday’s issue when space opens up.
LaVern M Feusner reports three candidates for Plymouth County Soil Conservation District commissioner: Tom Kenny of Westfield Bud Bolser of Stanton and Earl Albert of Fredonia. Kenny and Bolser are experienced cooperators and all three pledge to support soil and water conservation. Election set for February 12 at the Hinton Methodist Church during a joint event.
Districts Biennial meeting and the Annual Meeting are held for Floyd Valley Watershed Association. Any landowner or operator within the District is eligible to vote and may vote without attending the meeting.
The Ahrendsen and son dairy sale has been postponed to Friday January 19 due to severe cold weather. The sale was to be held January 9 but was cancelled. Auctioneer Harold Ruden notes the Globe-Post carried weather insurance to re run the ad at no charge. The farm lies on the angling road just north and west of Merrill.
On January 12 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist church a World Day of Prayer service marks 76 years since the original dream of a world united in prayer began in 1877. Narrator Mrs Lyle Schleef speaker Mrs Elmer Kehrberg reader Miss Craven soloist Mrs Harold Mick organist Mrs Richard Albert with costumed roles from multiple churches and diverse groups including Migrant women and children, students, and clergy from Westmar college and various denominations.
A dramatic presentation titled In Unbroken Line will be performed at the annual meeting of the United Church Women of LeMars on Friday. The event showcases a feature performance with community participation expected.
