May reopen Roosevelt finance scandal to collect unpaid taxes

The Republican plan in Washington to revive a probe into Elliott Roosevelt’s business aims to recover between 49,006 and 374,000 in taxes. The case centers on a 1929 loan of 200,000 from John Hartford, stock collateral, and a 1940s settlement led by Jesse Jones. Republicans argue tax on the unreturned loan portion and stock value should be collected, potentially broadening to Elliott’s finances and past earnings.
