City council authorized a 15000 remodel of the New Deal park swimming pool bath house. Work includes interior partitions replacement and new shower and rest rooms. Open air dressing rooms will be rearranged and plumbing updated to deter vandalism and allow winter storage. no bond issue needed.
Le Mars police log two intersection crashes in two days at the 3rd Street and 6th Avenue Southeast crossing. Monday at 2:20 a 1960 Plymouth driven by Mrs Ray Korff sustained extensive rear and side damage after colliding with a 1963 Buick driven by Rev Robert O Reilley Marcus. Korff's car then struck a fence causing about 50 dollars in damage. Tuesday at 1:15 packed snow blamed for a second crash between a 1961 Chevrolet and a 1950 Chevrolet. damages were minor about 34.75 to the first car and 65 to the second car.
The Le Mars merchandising council of the chamber of commerce plans a citywide promotion for Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd with stores advertising in the Globe-Post on Wednesday February 20. The Globe-Post will print a day early due to the legal holiday Washington’s Birthday and no mail delivery on Friday.
Sheriff Frank Scholer said a 17 year old Hinton youth is held in Plymouth county jail after admitting association with two Sioux City youths who confessed to breaking into at least 15 filling stations. A Dugan Standard station at Kingsley netted over $100. Other breakins occurred at Lawton Sloan Sargeant Bluffs Moline and several in Sioux City. Two other Sioux City youths in Woodbury county jail admit aiding the Hinton youth in robbing about 14 stations. Investigators traceable to Monona Plymouth and Woodbury county locations. The law cautions names of juveniles not be printed.
Petitions bearing signatures of 8600 persons seeking liquor by the drink were sent to Des Moines Tuesday by L H Bastien president of the Sioux City Beer Distributors association. There were 80 sheets collected at Hawarden Le Mars Mapleton and Sioux City plus other points in Sioux Crawford Monona Plymouth and Woodbury counties. The packets were dispatched to state legislators from each county with the association acting as a clearing house.
A 1955 Chevrolet coach owned by Don Neunaber of Akron, missing since Tuesday evening, was found just outside Lennox, South Dakota. Sheriff Frank Scholer said James Stratmyer, 24, a Lennox resident, admitted he took the car. FBI involvement followed a cross state line theft.
Le Mars Community High School Concert Band presents the fifth annual Pops Concert on February 19 at 8 p.m. in Carey Gymnasium. The trumpet trio of Bogenrief Ketelson Stephens is featured, with candle light seating, pie and coffee after, and performances by clarinet soloists, vocal numbers, a flute and piccolo piece, and surprise numbers. Directed by Charles Mahaffey and Joseph Brice, the program showcases the band’s continued excellence and community support.
Damages totaling 57500 are sought in two district court suits naming Melvin Plueger and Erlin Henry Plueger as defendants. Plaintiffs Bruce Buhmann and Gary Vance, both minors, sue through their fathers Marvin Buhmann and Kenneth Vance. Bruce Buhmann seeks 20000 while Gary Vance seeks 35000 plus 1500 for paternal expenses. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. last May 31 on highway 75 in front of LeMars Fruit and Grocery Store when Melvin Plueger turning left into the store parking lot collided with Buhmann riding as a passenger on a southbound motorcycle.
A marriage license was issued to Dennis Austine aged 20 of Kingsley and Lynette Mathers aged 19 of Kingsley at the Clerk of Courts office in Le Mars.
The sheriff said a garage man checked the vehicle after a theft admission. The car appeared unharmed and was abandoned on the outskirts of Lennox when it ran out of gas near a house where Stratmyer stays, according to the sheriff.

Eastman has shown the film to over 90,000 people in 12 states and calls it a premier family entertainment.
