Mr and Mrs M J Kounkel of 4735 Polk Street celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 pm at their home and a later supper and reception at Calvary Lutheran church. They married February 6, 1899, at Trinity Lutheran church in Hinton. They farmed in Plymouth County until 1929 when they moved to Leeds. He was born in Hazel Green Wisconsin and she in Le Mars. Their children include Mrs Caroline Caldwell and Mrs Ethel Betsworth of Sioux City, Mrs Clarence Krause and Mrs William Dixon of Hinton. They have eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
