Dr and Mrs Huston P Cunningham went to Spencer on Friday to attend funeral services for Dr Wallo Soholm.
A special Eastern Star Chapter meeting on Monday initiated new members and featured a Christmas program with a symbolic decorated Christian tree. Mrs. Jessie Thomas discussed symbols as carols were sung. St George's Guild then gathered for dessert luncheon hosted by Mrs. Cannon and Mrs. Reichert with gifts exchanged. Rev and Mrs Salt er of Sioux City attended. Miss Dorothy Marcue arrived from Cornell College to spend vacation with her parents. Mr and Mrs Jewett and Mr and Mrs Perry hosted a dinner Sunday.

After their ceremony the couple departed by air to Miami Florida. Upon return they will reside on the groom’s ranch south of Bassett where he is engaged in ranching and cattle raising.
Harold Vortherms died in Korea on November 29 as Sioux county’s first Korean casualty. A.memorial Requiem High Mass was read at St. Joseph church Granville with American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars members present. Survived by his father and four sisters and a brother, he was born May 28, 1928 on a Granville farm and served in the 3rd Division 15th Infantry in Tokyo and Korea.
