The first annual junior high school invitational basketball tournament will be held January 14 and 15 in the high school auditorium. Mrs. Krause Dies at 53 in Hinton Sioux City
Mrs. Otto Krause a lifelong Plymouth county resident of Hinton died Monday after a long illness at age 53. Born January 25, 1884, she married in 1906 and was active in Trinity Lutheran church and its ladies aid. Surviving are her husband, six children, five sisters, three brothers, all of Hinton.

Eagles Hold Large Meeting Address by Dr Mehrmann
Fraternal Order of Eagles gathered in the club house last Thursday December 16 with a large attendance. Dr B H Mehrmann of Oakland California addressed the group on laws sponsored by the order and the government. A class of candidates was duly initiated with local officers leading the ceremony. Mrs Art Honnold accompanied by A Langhout at the piano sang solos praised by attendees. Delegations from Sioux City Akron Sheldon and Spencer were present and about 250 attendees filled the hall.

G men And State Raid Two Remsen Places No Arrests
Federal and state agents raided the Remsen area yesterday evening at the Remsen Recreation Hall owned by Ray Tritz and the Home Cafe owned by Johannes Johnson. No arrests were made. The liquor seized was reportedly dosed to be sold and includes White Swan and various gins and wines. The liquor is held in Le Mars awaiting further action.

Accident injures two Mueckes near LeMars
Anna Mae Muecke 15 and her brother William 17 were hurt in a car crash south of LeMars this morning. William, driver, escaped with minor injuries after his car was sideswiped on a curve. Their parents are Mr and Mrs Walter Muecke of Hinton. The other driver’s name was not recorded. The Muecke car was badly damaged.

Hawarden Man Called by Death
John Aalfs 73 died Saturday at his Hawarden home after a long illness. He came to Sioux county from Germany in 1882 and farmed in Eagle Township, Sioux County, Iowa, retiring 15 years ago. Survived by his widow and one sister, Mrs. John Klein of LeMars, with another sister in Germany. An odd coincidence: relatives received word Monday that his brother August was also ill.

Oldest Hen Living Belongs to Preston Township Family
George Albright near Craig visited Le Mars with his buff coch in bantam hen, hatched 1925 and now nearly 14, reportedly the oldest hen. The hen was a 1924 gift from Louis Albright to the children, who have grown up. Arthur 21, William 17, Phyllis 16, Marlin and Marilyn now almost four.
