Mrs J C Bliss of Westfield died at her home Sunday. Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p m in the Congregational church in Westfield. Survived by husband, one son Roy two daughters Mrs A W Hummel and Mrs Wayne Lilly all of Westfield seven sisters also surviving. In With Top Hogs regular shipper Henry HH Beltelsapacher of Le Mars reported hogs on the Sioux City market at 9 50 per cwt for 13 head averaging 232 pounds. A N The ladies of Henry and Union townships met December 4 1085 in Henry township at Mrs Avery Thompson’s home for the second lesson of this year’s project Getting the Most from Your Kitchen Equipment Pearl Lima H D A presented the lesson to a large group. A followup meeting is planned soon.
The church invites families to its annual Christmas Pageant marking 50 years of Sunday school efforts. Children rehearse Sunday school lessons and the vest ed choir provides music. Worship begins at 11 o'clock each Sunday morning with open invitation from Pastor Frederick P Pfaltzgraff.
The first annual home project meeting for America and Washington townships convened at the Gabel home on Tuesday October 15 with ten ladies present. The lesson taught by Ralph Gabel focused on cookery of new vegetables. The second meeting occurred on Tuesday December 10 at the Ed Howes home starting at 10 o clock with ladies bringing a covered dish. The America-Washington project gathered again at the Kid Howen home to study the object lesson on rejection of kitchen utensils.
Costello Bros. lose a heavy hog valued at a two hundred pounds after it is killed and carted away from the Northwestern Stock Yards. The thieves ripped a section of the stock yards fence during the loading. The yuletide season brings cheer to the Presbyterian community.
